January 3, 2007 – Home Sweet
Home
Surprise, surprise.
Another Delta employee in Atlanta
lied to me. The alcohol I bought in the
Rio duty free shop that sat comfortably in the overhead compartment for 9.5 hours
suddenly needed to be placed in a checked bag for the 2 hour flight to Detroit. This was yelled at me by a large TSA employee
in the security line. Funny, before I
got into that line I asked a Delta person if I could continue to carry-on the
liquor. She said yes. Bitch.
Shoeless and beltless, I had to run backwards through security and
quickly pack 4 bottles of fragile liquor into my carry-on bag and then hand it
to someone who literally threw it on to a conveyor belt. This was after I told him it was
fragile. God, Atlanta sucks! Oh, in my haste, I also left my wallet, ID
and all my cash in the unlocked carry-on I just checked.
Things have a way of working themselves out (as soon as you
leave Atlanta,
anyway). We made it to Detroit.
The liquor survived, and my wallet was recovered. It was sunny.
Our ride picked us up. It was
good to be home.
